أيام قليلة وتحلّ علينا الذكرى التاسعة لإعلان عدن التاريخي، ذلك الحدث الذي لم يكن مجرد فعالية سياسية عابرة، بل لحظة مفصلية أعادت صياغة المشهد الجنوبي، ورسّخت معادلة جديدة عنوانها: حين تتجسد الإرادة الشعبية في قيادة، تتحول إلى مشروع وطن.
في الرابع من مايو 2017، خرجت الجماهير في عدن لتقول كلمتها بوضوح، مانحةً التفويض للرئيس عيدروس الزُبيدي - Aidroos Alzubidi ليكون الحامل السياسي لقضية شعب الجنوب، والمعبّر عن تطلعاته في استعادة دولته كاملة السيادة بحدود ما قبل العام 1990. لم يكن هذا التفويض تعبيرًا عاطفيًا عابرًا، بل تفويضًا سياسيًا مكتمل الأركان، استند إلى شرعية الشارع، ومهّد لمرحلة جديدة تمخض عنها تأسيس كيان سياسي جنوبي تمثل في المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي، كإطار للعمل المنظم والمؤسسي.
لقد شكّل إعلان عدن نقطة تحول من حالة التشتت السياسي إلى قدر من التماسك، ومن خطاب احتجاجي إلى مشروع سياسي فاعل نجح في فرض حضوره إقليميًا ودوليًا. ومنذ ذلك الحين، استطاع الجنوب أن يشق طريقه إلى المحافل الدولية، مستندًا إلى تمثيل سياسي واضح، ورؤية متقدمة نقلته من موقع رد الفعل إلى موقع المبادرة.
ورغم تعقيدات المرحلة، تمكن المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي بقيادة الرئيس عيدروس الزُبيدي من مواجهة التحديات الداخلية والخارجية، والحفاظ على صلابة التفويض الشعبي. وقد نجح في إفشال محاولات إضعاف هذا التفويض، سواء عبر تفريخ مكونات موازية، أو الالتفاف على الإرادة الشعبية الجنوبية، أو استخدام أدوات الضغط السياسي لإرباك المشهد، ليؤكد أن هذا التفويض لم يكن قرار نخبة، بل خيار شعب راسخ.
وعلى امتداد السنوات التسع، ترجم المجلس الانتقالي هذا التفويض إلى جملة من المكاسب السياسية، تمثلت في تعزيز الحضور الخارجي للقضية الجنوبية، وتكريسها كقضية سياسية قائمة بذاتها، إلى جانب العمل على تحسين الواقع الداخلي ضمن الإمكانات المتاحة، وتعزيز وحدة الصف الجنوبي في مواجهة التحديات.
إن التحدي الذي واجهه المجلس لم يقتصر على تثبيت الحضور السياسي، بل امتد إلى إدارة مرحلة معقدة بكفاءة، وتقديم نموذج يسعى إلى كسب ثقة المواطن بالتوازي مع توسيع دائرة التأثير الخارجي. وقد أظهر المجلس قدرة على التكيف مع التحولات، والعمل وفق أدوات سياسية واقعية تخدم المشروع الوطني الجنوبي.
وفي هذه الذكرى، تبرز أهمية البناء على ما تحقق من منجزات، وتعزيزها برؤية أكثر شمولًا، دون إغفال ضرورة التقييم المستمر للأداء. فالتفويض الشعبي يظل عقدًا سياسيًا وأخلاقيًا بين القيادة والشعب، أساسه الثقة، ومرتكزه الاستمرار في تحقيق الإنجاز.
ختامًا، يظل إعلان عدن علامة فارقة في تاريخ الجنوب، ليس فقط لأنه منح التفويض، بل لأنه أطلق مسارًا سياسيًا تُوّج بإنجازات ملموسة على الأرض وفي المحافل الدولية. وبينما تتجدد الذكرى، تتجدد معها المسؤولية في استكمال هذا المسار… حتى يتحول التفويض إلى دولة كاملة السيادة.
The Ninth Anniversary of the Historic Aden Declaration… When the Mandate Turned into a National Project

In just a few days, we will mark the ninth anniversary of the historic Aden Declaration—a moment that was not merely a passing political event, but a pivotal turning point that reshaped the southern political landscape and established a new equation: when popular will is embodied in leadership, it transforms into a national project.
On May 4, 2017, the masses in Aden spoke clearly, granting their mandate to President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi to serve as the political representative of the Southern cause and the voice of its people’s aspirations to restore their fully sovereign state within its pre-1990 borders. This mandate was not a fleeting emotional expression, but a fully-fledged political authorization grounded in popular legitimacy, paving the way for a new phase that led to the establishment of a Southern political entity represented by the Southern Transitional Council as a framework for organized and institutional action.
The Aden Declaration marked a turning point from political fragmentation to a degree of cohesion, and from protest-based discourse to an active political project that succeeded in asserting its presence regionally and internationally. Since then, the South has managed to carve its path into international forums, relying on clear political representation and a forward-looking vision that shifted it from a reactive position to a proactive one.
Despite the complexities of the phase, the Southern Transitional Council, under the leadership of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, has succeeded in confronting both internal and external challenges while maintaining the strength of the popular mandate. It has effectively countered attempts to weaken this mandate—whether through the creation of parallel entities, efforts to circumvent the Southern popular will, or the use of political pressure tools to destabilize the scene—confirming that this mandate was not the decision of an elite, but a firmly rooted choice of the people.
Over the past nine years, the Council has translated this mandate into a series of political gains, including strengthening the external presence of the Southern cause and consolidating it as an independent political issue, alongside efforts to improve internal conditions within available capacities and reinforce Southern unity in the face of challenges.
The challenge faced by the Council has not been limited to securing political presence; it has extended to managing a complex phase with efficiency and presenting a model that seeks to earn public trust while simultaneously expanding external influence. The Council has demonstrated an ability to adapt to shifting dynamics and to operate through pragmatic political tools that serve the Southern national project.
On this anniversary, the importance of building upon achieved accomplishments becomes evident, strengthening them with a more comprehensive vision, while maintaining continuous performance evaluation. The popular mandate remains a political and moral contract between leadership and people—founded on trust and sustained through continued achievement.
In conclusion, the Aden Declaration remains a defining milestone in Southern history—not only because it granted a mandate, but because it launched a political trajectory that has been crowned with tangible achievements on the ground and in international forums. As the anniversary returns, so too does the responsibility to continue this path… until the mandate is fully realized in the form of a fully sovereign state.
